Celebrate the festive season with Trinity Theatre!

This Christmas, Trinity Theatre has pulled together not just one family Christmas show, but three! Full of wit, wonder and zany happenings, these Christmas shows promise to deliver family fun for all.

The New Musketeers will swashbuckle onto Trinity’s stage from Wednesday 14th December. This festive frolic is a major new family comedy set in the world of the Three Musketeers… sort of. When the famous Musketeers are lost at sea, their servants are left with an important mission to complete. The New Musketeers features brilliant music, terrible sword fighting and magical production designs from Tony Award winning set designer Nigel Hook.

Audiences looking for some yuletide nostalgia will adore Miracle on 34th Street. When the Macy’s department store Santa Claus in New York claims to be the real thing, a lawyer and a little girl will do whatever it takes to prove Santa Claus is telling the truth. Seven actors perform every character in Lance Arthur Smith’s Christmas tale, while sound effects are produced in front of your eyes in this live musical radio play version of the classic story. Peppered with original music by Jon Lorenz and well-known Christmas carols performed in stunning four-part harmony, one of the most incredible Christmas tales ever written unfolds from Tuesday 20th December.

The fast-paced family fun fest The Aliens Who Saved Christmas blasts into orbit from Friday 16th December. It is Christmas Eve on the planet Slurp when friendly aliens Sniff and Splat accidentally receive an urgent radio message from Santa’s elves that was actually meant for the Queen of England. Little aliens in the audience are invited to join the brave and blundering Slurpers as they embark on a hapless but well-meaning mission to save Christmas. Winnie Southgate’s new play for young audiences is a riot of colour and magic that is sure to keep little ones entertained long after they leave the auditorium.

Trinity’s winter wonderland also includes traditional fare such as Olivier Award-winner, Guy Masterson’s one man performance of A Christmas Carol or The Nutcracker broadcast from the Royal Opera House, as well as their 2022 show The Royal Ballet: A Diamond Celebration. Acclaimed musicians GreenMatthews will present Midwinter Revels. This winter warmer of a show spans several centuries and features folk carols, winter folk songs, toe-tapping tunes and a plethora of weird and wonderful instruments. This is a raucous and rousing celebration guaranteed to warm the cockles.

Those looking to keep warm with a good laugh will be treated to Omid Djalili’s (Mama Mia 2: Here We Go Again; His Dark Materials; Fiddler On The Roof, Chichester Festival Theatre) The Good Times Tour. Always intelligent, provocative and entertaining, Djalili’s legendary stand-up performances is a captivating comedy masterclass. This is followed by This Can’t Be It; spiritual enquiry meets high-octane observational comedy as Mark Watson, the Taskmaster survivor, multi-award-winner and No More Jockeys cult leader, attempts to cram a couple of years of pathological overthinking into an evening of stand-up. The Good Ship Comedy will once again dock at Trinity for a double bill of bold, fresh and always bang on point stand-up from Athena Kugblenu (Mock the Week, BBC Two; Breaking the News, BBC Scotland) and a performance from of the UK’s finest up-and-coming comedians, Pierre Novellie (The Mash Report, BBC One; Stand Up Central, Comedy Central).

No matter how you celebrate, Trinity Theatre has programmed delights for a very merry Christmas!
