Easter at the Old Royal Naval College

There’s plenty of egg-cellent activities for families to enjoy this Easter in the beautiful riverside grounds and stunning buildings of the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich.

Families will have a cracking time exploring an adventurous Easter Egg trail through the grounds from 10th – 13th April.  Inspired by the incredible surroundings and naval history of the area, the Easter Egg trail will see children embark on a quest to solve nine clues and find letters spelling out a winning word for a prize Easter Egg.

After such well-received workshops at the Old Royal Naval College during Big Draw 2019, acclaimed illustrator Nick Ellwood is returning with his inimitable style in a brand-new exhibition in the Visitor Centre from 1st April – end of May 2020.  The exhibition will consist of beautifully hand-drawn originals bringing to life some of the historical figures and quirky stories from the past 500 years at the Old Royal Naval College, from kings to sailors, gods to astronomers and more.  Visitors will be able to purchase Nick Ellwood merchandise including illustrated booklets for children.

Alongside his exhibition, Nick Ellwood is producing a new activity guide for children to help them further explore the magnificent Old Royal Naval College buildings and grounds and dive deeper into the stories with fun activities and puzzles to complete at home.

Easter services will be held in the stunning Chapel of St Paul and St Peter at the Old Royal Naval College.  Open to all, the services will be held throughout Lent, Holy Week and Good Friday, and there will be a Choral Eucharist on Easter Sunday.  Tickets are also available for an incredible rendition of Haydn’s The Creation on 8th April by the Old Royal Naval College and Trinity Laban Choir.

The Old Royal Naval College’s superb grounds, with a gorgeous view of the River Thames, are free to visit and open daily, making them a safe and relaxing place to go for a stroll, have a picnic and let the kids play as the weather gets warmer.
