There are festive treats in store for everyone this Christmas at the Old Royal Naval College. Families can enjoy a jolly show as Santa’s elves race to save Christmas, and create magical memories with storytelling with Father Christmas in the Painted Hall. Visitors can enjoy a special Christmas carol and Coalescence evening and festive Afternoon Teas, as well as gift shopping in the pop-up shop.
Younger visitors will love the heartwarming Christmas tale The Elves and The Magic Bear. When Santa’s elves find a bag of unopened letters to Santa just two days before Christmas, they have a big job on their hands to save Christmas. With the help of Mrs Claus and the audience, some singing, magic and a surprise guest, Santa’s elves race to make sure that every child gets a present on Christmas. Everyone will have the opportunity to take photos with the elves and get a Nice List certificate from Mrs Claus.
Kids will love meeting Father Christmas himself when he stops off in the Nelson Room inside the Painted Hall for some very special storytelling. He’s heard about the amazing Coalescence artwork and has some fuel for thought – families can come and hear a magical Christmas story inspired by the sparking art installation in the Painted Hall, receive a present and take a photo with Father Christmas.
Visitors can enjoy a beautiful carol concert in the stunning Chapel of St Peter and St Paul before heading to the Queen Mary Undercroft for a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie, then up to the Painted Hall for a rare opportunity to see it after hours with a major art installation Coalescence by Paul Cocksedge.
A very special festive dining experience also awaits in the Painted Hall. Indulge in a delicious three course Christmas meal in this incredible setting, surrounded by the beautiful paintings and Paul Cocksedge’s artwork Coalescence. In the Undercroft Café, visitors looking to treat themselves with something a little bit extra special can enjoy Festive Afternoon Teas.
There will also be the opportunity to do some Christmas shopping at the annual ‘pop-up’ Christmas shop on College Way, with books, gifts, cards, wrapping paper and Christmas decorations.
