MUJI pop-up shop and NUNO textile sales at Dovecot Studios breaks retail records

Dovecot Studios has broken retail records by teaming up with Japanese design firms MUJI and NUNO Textiles.  Dovecot’s shop achieved its record-breaking October, seeing their highest ever profit for the month, by collaborating with MUJI to become their only stockist in Scotland with a pop-up shop at the Studios.  At the same time, Dovecot became the only store in Scotland stocking NUNO Textiles, renowned for their innovation and sustainability.  The collaboration is part of Dovecot’s current exhibition Making Nuno: Japanese Textile Innovation from Sudō Reiko.

Sudō Reiko, the design director of leading textile firm NUNO, is one of MUJI’s advisory board members, and MUJI’s minimalist aesthetic perfectly complements Sudō Reiko’s extraordinary textiles.  Visitors clearly agree, as the pop-up shop and NUNO products have been hugely successful, leading to Dovecot Studios’ record-breaking October.  As audiences continue venturing to galleries and shops following restrictions easing, Dovecot’s successful October is an excellent and encouraging example of recovery for the gallery retail sector post-pandemic.

Dovecot Studios are participating in Visit Scotland’s Great Days Out campaign, offering 50% off exhibition tickets up until 18th February, so participating visitors can get back in touch with art and design following the pandemic at Making Nuno and the MUJI pop-up store.

Claire McHardy, Head of Commercial and Operations at Dovecot Studios, says, We are delighted to have had the opportunity to host a MUJI pop-up shop within our retail space.  Our successful October has proved the value of working with other retailers to offer something unique.  We hope this will be the first of many pop-up shops at Dovecot.  Exclusively stocking NUNO textiles has proved hugely popular for us both in store and online.  Working with NUNO Corp complements Dovecot’s values of tradition and innovative design.
