Queeriosities, a brand new art and makers fair, launches at Museum of the Home

Museum of the Home will host Queeriosities on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st May 2023. Queeriosities is the Museum’s inaugural art and makers fair created with leading LGBTQ+ creatives and businesses exploring a diverse range of visions and representations of domesticity, identity and home. On Friday 19th May 2023, the Museum will host a launch event offering early-bird access to the work on show and the opportunity to meet artists and makers ahead of the fair’s official opening the next day.

The exciting Queeriosities fair will feature more than 40 stall holders offering a curated selection of ceramics, paintings, mixed media, sculpture, textiles, books, gifts and homewares. Artists and makers include Rachael House, Peter Ibruegger, Will Martin, Kavel Rafferty, and Rad Husak.

Queeriosities is curated by Davy Pittoors, a visual creative who specialises in storytelling, art direction and curation. He mainly works with artists, makers and small businesses, with a focus on interiors, lifestyle, arts and culture.

Pittoors comments, The vibrant group of artists and makers I’m bringing together for Queeriosities are among the best LGBTQ+ creatives from London and beyond. Their work explores visions and representations of identity and home, reflecting my own interest in work that interrogates the multi-faceted relationship between art, sexuality and domesticity. Visitors to the fair will be able to browse artworks in a welcoming setting and purchase everything from Genderqueer Deity sculptures and Polari-inspired ceramics, to erotic paintings, handmade furniture, fragrances and zines. Being able to present this work in such a celebrated institution is a fantastic opportunity, and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Museum of the Home to rethink the ways in which home and queerness intersect, and include more LGBTQ+ perspectives in their public programme.

On Sunday 21st May, the Museum will host a panel discussion moderated by Pittoors exploring themes of Queer domestic making and style. Pittoors will be joined by Professor Matt Cook, author of Queer Domesticities, and artist and architect Martha Summers.
